Alex Weatherly has almost 30 years’ experience helping businesses and individuals create and implement strategies to protect and plan for the disposition of their financial resources, from business succession to personal and business tax planning.
He represents clients who foresee a range of financial challenges, including trust creation and implementation and estate planning. He has assisted with will and probate issues, including matters involving high-value estates. He also can help with guardianship or conservatorship planning for those caring for children or incapacitated adults.
He can assist tax planning in a variety of legal situations, including individual, partnership, corporate and tax-exempt organizations. He’s licensed to appear before the U.S. Tax Court and also has represented clients before the IRS and state taxing authorities.
He formulated business succession plans that look toward a goal of preserving the owner’s assets and business for future generations.
A native of Sumter, Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in business, with an emphasis on finance and accounting, from The Citadel. He earned his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
He has taught numerous Continuing Legal Education programs on estate and tax planning for attorneys and certified public accountants.
