Mediation

In South Carolina, alternative dispute resolution – mediation or arbitration – is now the rule rather than the exception. For most legal disputes in the state, mediation is mandatory. The majority of cases settle as a result of mediation, allowing litigants to fashion their own outcome rather than risking trial.

A mediator is an impartial “neutral.”  For the process to be successful, both sides need to have confidence that the mediator is without bias and has the legal knowledge and skills necessary to help guide litigants to a settlement.

Callison Tighe has four lawyers certified by the Supreme Court of South Carolina. All four bring years of experience in litigation to the mediation process.

Two members of the team are certified arbitrators as well. While a mediator helps parties in a case come to resolution, arbitrators hear both sides and render their own decisions.
