Michael Tighe named Lawyer of the Year in Real Estate Litigation

COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Callison Tighe & Robinson founding member Michael Tighe has earned Lawyer of the Year honors in real estate litigation for the Columbia metropolitan area in the 2015 edition of The Best Lawyers in America.

The guide, released today in print and online at bestlawyers.com, is among the legal profession’s oldest peer-reviewed publications.  Attorneys are included after a stringent process that includes evaluations by other lawyers in their practice area and in their communities.

Lawyers of the Year are selected because of their impressively high scores during peer evaluations for the Best Lawyers publication. Only a single attorney in each city is designated in each practice area.

Since 1971, Mr. Tighe has represented title insurers and insureds, major developers and lenders in real estate litigation in state and federal courts across South Carolina.

Other attorneys often call upon Mr. Tighe to testify as an expert witness in real estate and title insurance cases. He has taught continuing legal education seminars on the topic of real estate, as well as programs for trade groups.

Mr. Tighe also is listed in the new edition of Best Lawyers in the practice area of real estate law. Two other Callison Tighe attorneys, Ralph Robinson and Drew English, are listed in that practice area as well.

Mr. Robinson has served as lead counsel in more than 100 major commercial projects throughout his career. Mr. English focuses on commercial real estate acquisition and development, representing developers in all stages and aspects of their projects.

These attorneys have been involved in hundreds of millions of dollars in projects in South Carolina and throughout the southeast, including shopping centers, golf courses, hotels and residential developments.

The attorneys have represented homeowners, developers, lenders and governments in cases that have involved foreclosures, contract disputes, easements, tax sales, lien priority disputes and more.
