About Best Lawyers in America

In order to be considered for Best Lawyers, attorneys first must receive a peer nomination. Next, attorneys in the same metropolitan area and practice area submit confidential evaluations of each nominee. Those results then are combined with independent research to determine inclusion in Best Lawyers. The Lawyer of the Year award goes to the attorney who receives the highest overall peer feedback.

This marks the third consecutive year a Callison Tighe attorney has earned Lawyer of the Year honors for the Columbia, SC, area. Founding partner Mike Tighe was Lawyer of the Year in Real Estate Law the 2018 edition. Tighe and Louis Lang both were Lawyers of the Year in litigation-related practice areas in the 2017 edition.
