3 summer law clerks join Callison Tighe
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Callison Tighe is welcoming three law students to the firm as part of its annual summer law clerk program.
The students, all heading into their second or third year of law school in the fall, come from a variety of backgrounds, undergraduate majors and locations, though two attend the University of South Carolina School of Law. Their duties include assisting with research, drafting documents and compiling information for attorneys.
They are:
Lauren Deyo: A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Deyo graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University in 2013 with a degree in archeology, art history and religion. She’ll be a third-year student at Emory University School of Law in Atlanta in the fall, where she’ll complete her Transactional Law Certificate. She recently competed in the Kaufman Securities Moot Court Competition in New York City.
Deyo is interested in real estate and property law, as well as the economic analysis of law. Her hobbies include painting – her artwork was displayed in the Emory Law Library in spring 2015 – reading, playing with her two dogs. She also is teaching herself to speak Korean.
Grant LeFever: A native of Columbia, LeFever holds a bachelor’s degree in history and English from Presbyterian College. In addition to working at Callison Tighe, she’s continuing work this summer on a master’s in southern studies from the University of Mississippi. Her thesis is on the Confederate flag, historical memory and race relations in South Carolina.
LeFever will begin her second year at the University of South Carolina School of Law in the fall. She recently won a CALI award in Legal Research and Writing, an honor that goes to the student with the top grade in the class. In her spare time, LeFever enjoys running, reading and going to the beach with her goldendoddle, Edisto.
Kyle McGann: A graduate of Furman University with a bachelor’s in political science, McGann is a native of New Jersey. He began clerking at Callison Tighe in August 2015 after serving as a clerk with another law firm and as an intern with a South Carolina school system. He’s also worked as a technician at a dental office and as a volunteer with Honor Flight Upstate South Carolina, coordinating volunteer groups for charity runs and galas and guiding World War II survivors through memorials in Washington, D.C.
McGann is entering his third year at the University of South Carolina School of Law this fall, and he’ll be participating in a Child Protection Advocacy Clinic in addition to his studies. He’s interested in practicing as a litigator after he graduates. McGann’s hobbies include playing soccer, working Sudoku puzzles and brewing beer.
