Three attorneys from Callison Tighe included in 2018 “Legal Elite of the Midlands”

The 2018 edition of “Legal Elite of the Midlands” includes three Callison Tighe attorneys among its honorees.

A yearly publication of Columbia Business Monthly, this year’s “Legal Elite” lists Edward “Butch” Barnhill and Mike Tighe in the Commercial Real Estate practice area. Rick Detwiler earned honors in Business Litigation.

Tighe and Barnhill are part of a full-service commercial real estate team at Callison Tighe in Columbia, SC. The attorneys take projects from planning to completion. Their work includes land acquisition, zoning and permits, financing and structuring and more.

Tighe, one of the firm’s founders and its managing partner, focuses on real estate transactions and litigation. He’s tried cases in all levels of federal and state courts in South Carolina and often is called as an expert witness in real estate and title insurance cases.

Barnhill, who’s of counsel with the firm, concentrates on real estate transactions, development and litigation. His practice also includes business law and probate. He’s a licensed real estate broker, a credential that gives him a different perspective on the process.

Detwiler represents businesses of all sizes in a range of issues, including disputes involving corporations, partnerships and family businesses. He has tried cases in all levels of state and federal courts in South Carolina. His practice also includes workers’ compensation, personal injury, medical malpractice and OSHA cases.

Tighe, Detwiler and Barnhill also are certified South Carolina Circuit Court mediators. They and the other attorneys of Callison Tighe’s Alternative Dispute Resolution team help parties solve disagreements out of court, avoiding extensive and expensive legal battles.

About Legal Elite of the Midlands

Every edition of “Legal Elite” has included Callison Tighe attorneys since the program began in 2010. The selection process begins with nominations from colleagues. All practicing attorneys in the Midlands then vote on more than 300 nominees, narrowing the field to a Top 10 in each of 20 practice areas. The results appear in Columbia Business Monthly’s August edition, and honorees are recognized at a reception in the fall.
