Callison Tighe & Robinson makes Ian Duggan a member

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Callison Tighe & Robinson has named Ian Duggan as a member in the law firm.

“Ian has proved his value to this firm time and again since joining us,” said Managing Member Rick Detwiler. “He exemplifies the skill, commitment and professional demeanor we expect in serving our clients, both inside and outside the courtroom. Especially in a tough courtroom fight, Ian is the lawyer you want by your side.”

He is an experienced trial lawyer, having tried many cases to verdict. He is licensed to practice in all state and federal courts in South Carolina and represents individuals, businesses and organizations before municipal and administrative bodies.

He is originally from Virginia, but now considers South Carolina home. He came to the state to attend Furman University, from which he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history in 2007. He received his juris doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2010.

Before joining Callison Tighe in 2017, Mr. Duggan was an officer in the U.S. Air Force. Serving tours of duty as a judge advocate in Afghanistan, Turkey and Qatar, he was recognized as one of the top trial advocates in the Air Force and prosecuted and defended some of the service’s highest-profile criminal cases.

After separating from active duty, Mr. Duggan served as a senior trial and appellate counsel for the Air Force in a reserve officer capacity. In 2019, he became a member of the South Carolina Air National Guard, where he presently serves as a judge advocate for the 169th Fighter Wing at McEntire Joint National Guard Base.

Callison Tighe was one of 15 companies across the country that received the 2019 Freedom Award given by the Defense Department’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The firm received the recognition after being nominated by Mr. Duggan, during his time with the Air Force Reserve. In the nomination, he wrote that “One of the things that attracted me to Callison Tighe as I was preparing for my separation from the military was how highly Rick and the other partners at the firm valued my military experience.”

This year, Mr. Duggan was one of 12 Callison Tighe attorneys named by The Best Lawyers in America® to the publication’s 2021 list. He was honored for his practice in commercial litigation. He is also recognized by his fellow attorneys with a Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent® peer review rating, the highest peer review rating available for professional excellence.
