Detwiler, English honored among Legal Elite of the Midlands
COLUMBIA, SC – This year’s “Legal Elite of the Midlands” includes Callison Tighe members Richard C. Detwiler and Andrew C. English, III among its Top 10 lists of attorneys.
An annual publication of Columbia Business Monthly, the 2019 “Legal Elite” highlights Detwiler among the area’s top workers’ comp attorneys. English is among the honorees in commercial real estate law.
Both have appeared in previous editions of the publication. Past editions have honored Mr. Detwiler in business litigation and workers’ compensation, while Mr. English has earned recognition in corporate business law in previous years.
An experienced litigator, Mr. Detwiler has tried jury and non-jury cases at all levels of state and federal courts in South Carolina. He has practiced before the SC Worker’s Compensation Commission for over 30 years, representing injured workers from the initial accident and injury through the hearing and appellate process. Though the workers compensation system was intended to be a streamlined, administrative “no fault” system, it often becomes complicated and difficult for workers to obtain the benefits they are entitled to.
Mr. Detwiler also handles personal injury and medical malpractice cases on behalf of injured clients and their families. A graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Business, he is also experienced in handling complex commercial and business litigation.
Mr. English’s practice focuses on commercial real estate acquisition and development. He represents developers in all aspects of their transactions, including assemblages of multiple parcels, financing, entitling, and leasing and divesting. He also represents lenders in transactions involving purchase financing, refinancing, and workouts of non-performing loans.
An experienced litigator as well, Mr. English represents clients in real estate and other non-jury matters throughout South Carolina, at both the trial and appellate levels.
About Legal Elite
“Legal Elite” has honored Callison Tighe attorneys in every edition since the first in 2010. The publication’s selection process begins with a nomination from a peer. A vote of all active attorneys in the Midlands results in a Top 10 list in each of 20 practice areas.
The winners are highlighted in Columbia Business Monthly’s August edition and recognized at a reception.
