Best Law Firms names Callison Tighe & Robinson for top tier in six areas for 2022

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Callison Tighe & Robinson has received six top-tier rankings in the 2022 edition of Best Law Firms in America. That makes 12 years in a row that the national guide has now honored the firm.

To be eligible for Best Law Firms, a firm must have at least one attorney recognized in Best Lawyers in America in the same year. This year, every attorney at the firm appeared in that publication.

This year’s Tier 1 honors for the Columbia area are in:

  • Commercial Litigation
  • Litigation – Banking & Finance
  • Litigation – Insurance
  • Litigation – Real Estate
  • Real Estate Law
  • Trusts & Estates Law

“It is always an honor to be chosen as among the community’s Best Law Firms,” Callison Tighe managing Rick Detwiler said. “This year is particularly auspicious, as it marks 50 years  since our firm was founded by Mike Tighe and Preston Callison.”

Callison Tighe also was recognized by the guide in six additional practices areas: Corporate Law; Litigation – Trusts & Estates; Tax Law; Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization Law; Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs; Workers’ Compensation Law – Claimants.

Eleven from the firm were honored in the Best Lawyers in America list earlier area this year: Butch Barnhill; Bert Brannon; Woody Cleveland; Rick Detwiler; Ian T. Duggan; Drew English; Jim Koutrakos; Louis Lang; Ralph Robinson; Mike Tighe; Alex Weatherly; and Reece Williams.

In addition, Mr. Brannon was named Lawyer of the Year in Columbia in the area of Litigation – Trusts and Estates. Only one attorney is recognized as the “Lawyer of the Year” for each practice area and location.

The other three lawyers in the firm were recognized as “Ones to Watch,” a category recognizing attorneys in the first decade of their careers: Harry Dixon in  Commercial Litigation, Litigation – Real Estate, and Real Estate Law; Matthew Jepertinger in Commercial Litigation and Medical Malpractice Law – Plaintiffs; and Yani Mouratev in Litigation – Real Estate; Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs and Real Estate Law.

Recognition by Best Lawyers is based entirely on peer review by fellow attorneys in the same practice areas and cities. The methodology is designed to capture, as accurately as possible, the consensus opinion of leading lawyers about the professional abilities of their colleagues within the same geographical area and legal practice area.
