Callison Tighe’s Williams, Lang and Brannon named Lawyers of the Year

COLUMBIA, S.C. – In its 2024 edition, The Best Lawyers in America® has named three members of Callison Tighe & Robinson law firm – Reece Williams, Louis Lang and Bert Brannon – to its Lawyers of the Year list for Columbia.

Lawyer of the Year is a special designation awarded to individuals with the highest overall peer-feedback vote for a specific practice area and geographic region.

Mr. Williams is recognized in the area of Litigation – Insurance; Mr. Lang is recognized for Litigation – Real Estate; and Mr. Brannon is listed for Trusts and Estates.

This distinction is in addition to the honor of appearing on the larger Best Lawyers list. And this year, once again, every attorney in the firm made either that list, or the Ones to Watch list, which recognizes attorneys in their first decade of practice.

On the Best Lawyers list, the three were cited in the following practice areas in addition to the ones mentioned above: Mr. Brannon, Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships), Litigation – Trusts and Estates, and Tax Law; Mr. Lang, Criminal Defense: White-Collar, Litigation – Banking and Finance, and Litigation – Insurance; and Mr. Williams, Litigation – Real Estate and Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs.

Mr. Williams focuses his practice at Callison Tighe on trial work. He is deeply experienced in areas including personal injury, professional liability, commercial and government litigation. He’s tried numerous cases resulting in verdicts in excess of a million dollars. He is also a certified mediator and arbitrator.

Mr. Lang concentrates on litigation, mostly cases involving real estate related matters, title insurance and federal criminal defense. In his civil practice, he represents clients in jury and non-jury trials and appeals in state and federal court. He has more than three decades of experience in complex real estate, title and title insurance cases, including representing title insurance companies in bad-faith litigation, and other insurance coverage issues.

Mr. Brannon focuses on estate planning and business succession planning, areas that often go hand in hand. He is experienced in helping small business owners and families manage assets, utilizing wills, trusts, and family entities to minimize estate taxes. His practice includes probate and trust administration; choice of entity planning; taxation of estates and trusts and business entities; and corporate law.
