Callison Tighe sponsors EdVenture Military Appreciation Days
COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA – Callison Tighe is joining EdVenture in honoring men and women in uniform by helping sponsor three Military Appreciation Days this year at the museum.
Through the program, military members with valid IDs and up to three of their guests will be admitted free to EdVenture on Memorial Day, the Fourth of July and Veteran’s Day. The program is offered at all three EdVenture locations – Columbia, Hartsville and Myrtle Beach.
“Several of us at Callison Tighe have served in the military, so we are aware of the sacrifices these men and women make,” said firm managing partner Mike Tighe. “EdVenture’s Military Appreciation Program is just one small way for us to say, ‘thank you’.”
Seven attorneys and staff at Callison Tighe, including Tighe, have served in the military. Attorney Ian Duggan, whose practice includes military law, is currently a major in the SC Air National Guard.
“We’re proud of the rich military tradition at Callison Tighe, and we’re pleased to support Ian as he continues to serve,” firm partner Rick Detwiler said. “We’re thrilled to join EdVenture in offering this program to military families in South Carolina.”
Callison Tighe’s support for the military
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, a U.S. Defense Department program, recently presented Callison Tighe with its highest state-level honor, the Pro Patria Award. The honor recognizes businesses that demonstrate great support to Guard and Reserve members with efforts that include adopting policies that allow employees to serve. Callison Tighe is one of only 30 finalists nationally for this year’s Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
In addition to more than 9,000 National Guard members, South Carolina is home to more than 55,000 active duty military personnel. That number includes soldiers at Fort Jackson, the U.S. Army’s largest basic training center. Other key installations include Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter and Joint Base Charleston.
