Callison Tighe welcomes Duggan as an associate
COLUMBIA, SC – Ian T. Duggan, an experienced attorney who has served as lead counsel in dozens of trials before juries and judges, has joined Callison Tighe as an associate.
Focusing on litigation, Ian will assist clients in resolving challenging legal matters, both inside and outside the courtroom. His practice will focus on general commercial litigation, personal injury and criminal defense. He is prepared to represent clients, both defendants and plaintiffs, at all levels of state and federal courts in South Carolina.
Ian also represents businesses, individuals and organizations before various administrative and government agencies.
Prior to returning to South Carolina and joining Callison Tighe, Ian served more than six years in the U.S. Air Force with tours of duty in Afghanistan, Turkey and Qatar. He rose to the rank of major, earning several commendations and medals as a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
While on active duty, Ian advised senior military leaders on difficult legal issues and was called upon to lead investigations and serve as lead counsel in some of the Air Force’s most noteworthy criminal trials.
He served as a senior military prosecutor and defense counsel and also was appointed as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, representing the government in federal court proceedings. Ian was one of the first military attorneys designated as a special victims’ counsel. He also trained junior attorneys in trial litigation and investigation.
Though no longer on active duty, Duggan remains an officer in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
Originally from Virginia, Duggan considers South Carolina home. He came to the Palmetto State to attend Furman University and received his bachelor’s degree in history in 2007. He went on to the University of South Carolina School of Law, completing his Juris Doctor in 2010 before being commissioned into the Air Force.
