Callison Tighe attorney joins SC Ag Department
Alden G. Terry, a former associate at Callison Tighe, now is serving as general counsel for the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.
“Alden is such a talented lawyer. We are so proud of her. While it was painful to see her move on, it’s always a pleasure to see a talented attorney grow and take on new challenges. We’re all very happy for Alden and wish her much success in her new role,” Callison Tighe partner Rick Detwiler said.
In her new position, Terry serves as the chief legal counsel for the department that oversees a $3 billion industry in the state. Her responsibilities include offering legal advice on a range of topics for the agency with varied responsibilities, from consumer protection to economic development.
The department’s mission is broad, and it includes managing three farmers markets around the state and making sure scales and fuel pumps are accurate. In times of disaster, the department works with farmers to assess damage and make requests for emergency aid.
Terry joined Callison Tighe as an associate in 2016. Her practice included real estate development, commercial transactions and general litigation. Prior to graduating cum laude from the University of South Carolina School of Law, she served as a law clerk at the Columbia, SC firm.
