Condemnations/Eminent Domain & Takings
When a local government seeks to condemn private property through its power of eminent domain, the tension between the rights of private property owners and the duty of a local government to promote the public interest comes into stark relief. Our attorneys represent property owners facing condemnation, advocating that the local government comply with its duties to use the property for a public purpose and to pay the property owner reasonable compensation for the property taken. We also have been retained by local governments to advise them in the acquisition of private property for public projects.
